No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS)
NILS provides individuals and families on low incomes access to safe, fair and affordable credit.
Loans can be up to $1,200 for essential goods and services including fridges, washing machines, furniture, medical needs and educational purposes. Loans are not available for debt repayment, bonds, rent money or in cash.
To qualify for a NILS loan, you must:
- have a health care or pension card or be on a low income (household income of $50,000 or less),
- have resided in your current premises for more than 3 months and
- show a willingness and capacity to repay.
If you don't meet all of the above criteria you may still be eligible depending on your circumstances. Please contact us to discuss.
We are proud to be a fully accredited NILS provider through Good Shepherd Microfinance. With manageable repayments and a respectful assessment process, NILS works through a process of circular community credit. When a borrower makes a repayment to NILS, funds are then available to someone else in the community.
